now a doubt for the national side in the European competition.
Del Bosque revealed the Blues striker had to rediscover his form if he wished to play a role in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011’s Euro campaign next summer. It seems the Spain manager is serious about leaving Torres out, having already done do last month.
Spain went on to win 6-0 over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756.
It seems Del Bosque is willing to give Torres one last chance before he decides to drop him from the squad, which is why he is expected to participate in the remaining 2012 Euro qualifiers. The manager revealed he still retaining confidence in the out of
form striker and was looking forward to his performance next week.
Del Bosque said while speaking to reporters:
“Torres is one of our players. I have a lot of confidence in him. The answer is always on the pitch.”
If Torres is unable to impress the manager then Del Bosque will have no trouble leaving Torres out of the squad, especially since he has a host of players to choose from. He revealed he had a selection headache already, with the large number of players available
for the Spain national team.
He revealed:
“There's a lot of competition for all the places. As far as the strikers are concerned, I think we've got all the circumstances covered.
We've got a mix of players that complement each other for different types of games.”
The manager admitted he was aware Torres had a tough time after his switch from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 to Chelsea in the January transfer window of the 2010-2011 season. After his big money switch, the striker has been in terrible goal scoring form, which has led to
various criticisms.
However, he seems to be on the road to improvement. Torres has seemed like a better player since the start of the new season; having scored two goals and provided two assists in eight appearances in all competitions. It was for this reason Del Bosque insisted
he still had faith in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 striker.
The Spain manager continued:
“He's changed club, he's had a spell that hasn't been very positive. He still has our confidence.
If he didn't, we wouldn't call him up. But the others behind him are pushing hard for a place and what we have to do is be fair. And there are people who think we aren't.”
