Chelsea striker Kalou insists the results are all that matter - English Premier League
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 spoke after the 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League claiming that getting goals was important and not who was scoring them. The Ivory Coast forward and the other Chelsea strikers are currently going through a
goal drought and the two goals in the match against City came from Brazilian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523.
However, Kalou was not too concerned about the fact that the defenders were in better goal scoring form as compared to the strikers. The 25-year-old Ivorian insisted the Blues had nothing to worry about as long as they were scoring goals and winning games.
After the mid-season slump, Chelsea are currently on a five match unbeaten run which has seen them climb back to the top three of the Premier League.
Kalou was picked ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 to play alongside Fernando Torres, but failed to make an impact. It was only when Drogba was brought on that Chelsea looked like their former selves and it was his corner that was headed into the
back of the net by David Luiz. Despite receiving criticism for the lack of firepower, Kalou was adamant that winning games was the most important thing at this point in the season.
The January transfer window not only saw the arrival of Benfica defender David Luiz but also that of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 for a record breaking fee. Despite the astronomical amount paid for him, the Spaniard has failed to find the back of the
net. Apart from his goal drought, Torres seems to have also affected the other strikers who have not been in the best of forms since his arrival Stamford Bridge.
Kalou insisted the Blues had to stick together to see the season through and try to win trophies, he said while speaking to reporters, “It doesn't matter who scores because, when you are coming back to the top as a team, you have to focus more on the result.
There are some moments when it's the defenders who score and the most important thing is that the team must stick together and win games.”
The Ivorian revealed everyone at the London club was extremely pleased with the win over the weekend, which had given them renewed hope for retaining the Premier League crown. He continued, “That's one of our best games, where we've put the team under pressure
and where we keep the ball and create chances. That's our level, so I believe if we continue like that, we can put Man U under pressure.”
Chelsea have some tough fixtures coming up, including the Champions League quarterfinal clash against Manchester United. The Blues are currently at third place, nine points behind the Red Devils with a game in hand and if things go this way could pressurize
the league leaders.
