Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 admits Manchester United will be hard to defeat
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 attacker Nicolas Anelka has claimed that it will be tough for the Blues to beat Manchester United in both the UEFA Champions League and Barclays Premier League.
Anelka told Chelsea’s official website, “We know them (United) but I don't think it's a good draw because they are a good team and difficult to beat with a lot of quality. But, if you want to win the Champions League you have to beat good teams.”
“These two games with Manchester United will feel like Premier League games, we have already played them in so many games so these will be the same, and we will just have to see what happens,” added the French striker.
However, Nicolas Anelka believes that Chelsea have to beat every single best side in Europe in order to fulfil their dream of winning their first-ever Champions League title.
Chelsea were drawn against Manchester United in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League. The Blues managed to make it through to the last eight of the European for the fifth consecutive time by beating Danish FC Copenhagen in the previous round. On
the other hand, Manchester United triumphed over French giants Marseille and sealed a berth in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
This European clash between the two English giants will be the rematch of the Champions League 2008 Moscow final which Manchester United won on penalties.
The first leg of the fixture will be played at Chelsea’s home Stamford Bridge on the weekend which will be followed by the return leg at Old Trafford next week.
Moreover, Nicolas Anelka believes Chelsea still have an outside chance of retaining their Barclays Premier League title despite their poor mid-season form. The Blues’ recent highly impressive form and back to back wins over Manchester United and Manchester
City have put them right back into the title race.
Chelsea are currently placed third in the League table, 9 points behind Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United and also have a game in hand. Additionally, Carlo Ancelotti’s men will play Manchester United at Old Trafford on 7 May, 2011.
