Chinese side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shanghai-Shenhua-c40497 are apparently interested in signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka in the upcoming transfer window. According to Shenhua, they could sign the 32-year-old Frenchman as soon as next week if things go according to plan.
Ma Yue, the Shenhua’s assistant spokesperson, confirmed while talking to reporters, that talks were ongoing with the player’s agent and brother. The talks with Anelka’s brother have revealed that the player is eager for a move to the Chinese side.
The reason for Chelsea preferring Shenhua over any European or American club is because of other lucrative deals involved in the transfer. It is no secret the Blues are looking to expand in Asia and what better to start than with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/China-c8926.
Ma said while speaking to reporters:
“It will be a three-year contract and will involve both football and commercial cooperation.”
The Chinese club chairman Zhu Jun also confirmed the rumours by posting a note on his official blog regarding Anelka’s move to the club. He admitted the news would be broken to the fans before the media officially reported the transfer, whenever it happened.
Zhu Jun continued:
“We started to talk about every detail from the first minute of the negotiations.
The whole contract is made up of details. It's comprehensive and complicated, involving the player's image and the commercial cooperation.”
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas made it clear he had no use for Nicolas Anelka and defender Alex in his squad. For this reason, the duo have been linked with a move away in the January transfer window before their contracts with the club expire.
According to the Portuguese manager, both the players have handed in their transfer requests, which have been accepted by the club. Now Chelsea are looking for suitable suitors and will agree to the most lucrative deal in the winter transfer window.
While the players are reportedly training with the reserve team following the acceptance of their transfer requests, Andre Villas-Boas hinted the players could end up staying at the club if a deal did not go through. While Anelka has been heavily linked
with Shenhua, it is not yet certain where Alex will end up.
