Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka to remain with the Blues, denies previous interview
Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international flat out denied that he had made claims that he would no longer be with the club after
the winter transfer window.
Anelka claimed:
“Following the quotations attributed to me in an English newspaper, I'd like to categorically deny having given any interview, let alone spoken about my future.
I'm under contract with Chelsea until the end of the season, with many playing commitments.”
Anelka, who has been a vital part of the Blues since joining in 2008 revealed he intended to honour his contract with the London club. He denied rumours that he was considering a move away, as stated by the Times in a previous interview.
Anelka was reported to have said in the Times:
“Chelsea has been the best part of my career and it's been great playing and winning with terrific guys like Didier Drogba, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838.
I was hoping to win another league title this season with Chelsea, but now, apparently it is not to be.”
However, the Frenchman has denied all such claims and reportedly wishes to remain with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 until his contract expires. His contract will last him until the end of this summer, after which he will be a free agent and can leave without a transfer window.
With that being the case, it seems highly likely that the Blues will try and cash in on Anelka’s departure, which means they will try and sell him in the winter transfer window. As the Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas himself claimed that the club had no
further use for the former Manchester City player.
The Portuguese manager was in talks regarding possible contract negotiations with players, when he claimed that while the club was considering giving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 new contracts, they would not consider keeping Anelka.
However, since he did not specifically mention when Anelka would be leaving, the winger c*m striker could wait until the end of the season before parting ways with the Premier League giants, who look far away from a side who can once again win the title.
