Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 hints at manager Carlo Ancelotti’s exit
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 striker Salomon Kalou hinted manager Carlo Ancelotti could be leaving the London club at the end of the current season after a highly disappointing season.
The 25-year-old Blues forward admitted there was a possibility that the Italian manager could be facing a Stamford Bridge exit.
However, he insisted the players were not concerned with who was managing the club and would be satisfied with playing under whomever the board decided on.
Kalou said while speaking to reporters, “We don't make the decision. We're here to play for the club. We're happy to work with anyone. That's for the board to decide.”
There are rumors that Ancelotti will be sacked at the end of the season for his inability to lead the London club to any silverware this season.
Many players, including skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837, have spoke out in support for the Italian manager.
The Ivorian did not seem to share his team’s sentiments and claimed the Blues could bounce back from the trophy less season as long as they played as a team.
The Blues striker said, “The players are going to give their best on the pitch and that's the most important thing. It doesn't matter. For me, the most important thing is to stay as a team.”
Kalou mentioned last season, Ancelotti’s first at the Bridge, when Chelsea had gone on to win the domestic double of the English Premier League and the FA Cup.
The Ivory Coast international insisted on the importance of team work, he said, “Last year, we won the double and it was all the team. This year, if we don't win any competition, it'll be the same.”
He was confident the team could recover from this season and return as one of the top teams, to challenge Europe’s elite for silverware.
He did not seem to think the departure of Ancelotti or any of the other players expected to leave in the summer would make too much of a difference on the squad.
Kalou continued, “It doesn't matter which players or who is the manager, the players have to be together and give a better performance.”
Chelsea finish second on the English Premier League table, with a UEFA Champions League qualification their only achievement this season.
