Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou’s comments indicate lack of respect for former boss Carlo Ancelotti
Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 claimed he had not even said goodbye to Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian manager was sacked last night.
Ancelotti was given the news minutes after the 1-0 loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 at Goodison Park in the final fixture of the season’s English Premier League.
While it is a known fact that most Chelsea supporters and players were not in favor of the sacking, there were of course the exceptions.
Kalou, was one of them. Just a few days before the manager was sacked, the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international went on record to say that he felt his side would do fine with any manager.
He declared he was not concerned with who was managing the club, suggesting he would more than okay with Ancelotti leaving.
Now that the former AC Milan manager has been sacked, Kalou did not feel any differently. His indifference was apparent from his statements.
Kalou said while speaking to reporters,
“It is sad obviously. To see someone lose his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, it is not an easy thing.
We will feel sad because we had a great time with him and we won two trophies with him and that is a good memory which we will all have.
I didn't know (he had been sacked) before someone told me so I didn't get the time to talk to him (to say goodbyes).
But I know he is a great coach and wherever he goes, he's going to have a great time.”
It is sad indeed, to see someone like Ancelotti lose his job for not being able to cope with a season filled with extremely difficult circumstances and still manage to lead the Blues to a second place finish.
A trophy less season has never been acceptable to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich; one would expect the players to be more understanding.
The likes of skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 spoke out in support for Ancelotti, maintaining their desire for the Italian manager to remain at Stamford Bridge for another season.
Kalou, who was never a favorite under Ancelotti and was reduced to the role of a substitute after the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 in January, obviously felt otherwise.
His well wishes to Ancelotti now seem worthless and forced, considering how he never quite wanted the Italian there in the first place.
The only thing Ancelotti’s departure from the London club has done, is show the players how easy it is to get a manager sacked.
A personal liking or disliking is hardly reason enough for a player to go public with his views on the manager in charge.
Kalou is not the first to do it and he won’t be the last if things are allowed to carry on this way.
There is certain amount of respect that should be given to a manager, a practice that no longer seems to be present at Stamford Bridge.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are currently on the look-out for a replacement, with the likes of Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Andres Villas Boas and Marco van Basten as favorites for the job.
