Chelsea striker says club are in no crisis
Chelsea attacker Daniel Sturridge says that the English Premier League side are not a club in crisis despite a string of poor results.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have lost three of their last four EPL games, against Birmingham City, Sunderland and Liverpool, while they struggled to defeat Slovakian side MSK Zilina in a UEFA Champions League group stage game on Tuesday 23 November.
The Blues, who were playing at home, were 1- down at half-time after a poor showing in the first 45 minutes, but goals by Sturridge and Florent Malouda helped Carlo Ancelotti's men maintain their 100 per cent record in the competition.
Meanwhile, there has been turmoil behind the scenes after assistant manager Ray Wilkins was dismissed by the club.
But the 21-year-old Sturridge, who moved to Chelsea from Manchester City in 2009, claims that there is no crisis at Stamford Bridge and that the players were simply focusing on playing well.
He told TalkSport, "I don't think there is a crisis here. If we can play the football that we can, and do what Chelsea can do then there isn't a crisis.
"We are just working hard every day, and it's just up to us as players to do our jobs on the pitch. We don't focus on anything off the park, we just do our job on the park."
Following their recent run of poor results in the domestic arena, Chelsea have seen their lead at the top of the EPL vanish as they are only ahead of Manchester United on goal difference at the top of the table, while Arsenal and Manchester City are also
snapping at their heels two and three points behind respectively.
They will have a chance to get their season back on track when they face Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday 28 November.
