http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 uncertain about future with Tottenham Hotspur, earns praise from Croatian manager
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric revealed he was waiting to see if the Spurs would allow him to make a move to London rivals Chelsea. With Tottenham Hotspur having already rejected two bids from Chelsea for Modric, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 international said
he was waiting to see whether or not the club would accept the third bid Chelsea were expected to make.
After Tottenham’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season, Modric made it clear he wished to make a move to the Premier League giants. However, Tottenham Hotspur chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy and manager Harry Redknapp claimed they were not willing
to let the versatile midfielder go at any price and since then have rejected two bids by the Blues.
Even though Modric has featured for Tottenham Hotspur in their pre-season fixtures and has received brilliant reception by the supporters, his mind remains unchanged. The pleas of teammates, the likes of Rafael van der Vaart and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741, and managers
have not managed to convince him either as he looks set to leave White Hart Lane for Chelsea.
Modric said in an interview:
“I don't want to talk about that, I said before what I think and that's it.
I said a lot of things before and still everything is the same at the moment. I will see - I'm still waiting.”
The Croatia international was asked about the possible departure of striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robbie-Keane-c31215, and he revealed he did not want the Republic of Ireland forward to leave White Hart Lane. However, Modric said he understood Keane’s want for a move away since he was
not being guaranteed regular first team football with the Spurs.
Modric continued:
“I would like him to stay but I know he wants to play.”
Unlike many other players demanding a move away from their current clubs, Modric has remained respectful towards the club and the supporters. He only handed in a transfer request when he felt the club were being unreasonable and rejected both of Chelsea’s
bid without even considering them. His attitude has earned him praise from the Croatia national team boss Slaven Bilic.
Bilic revealed he felt Modric had coped well with the uncertainty surrounding his future and had not let any speculation affect his performance. Modric featured for Croatia against the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 in an international friendly on Wednesday and like
always gave a flawless performance. The match however, finished a disappointing 0-0.
Bilic said while speaking to reporters after the match:
“Judging by his performance in training yesterday and his mixing in the squad and his performance today, he is totally focused on football and he can cope with this situation because he is strong in the head and it doesn't affect his game.”
