Neven Subotic, the 22-year-old Serbian defender, revealed he was happy staying with his current side Borussia Dortmund. However, the Chelsea target revealed he was not entirely ruling out a move in the future, hinting he could part ways with the German outfit
in the upcoming seasons.
Subotic made his senior debut with Mainz 05 in the 2006-2007 season, at the end of which they were relegated to the second division of the Bundesliga. The central defender stayed on with Mainz and made 34 appearances, scoring 4 goals before he transferred
to Borussia Dortmund.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002 international joined Borussia Dortmund on a long-term five year deal in the summer of 2008 and after just a few months established himself in the first team. In his debut season for Borussia Dortmund Subotic made 36 appearances in all competitions
and found the back of the net six times, an impressive achievement for a defender.
After a highly successful first season the player signed a new contract which would keep him with the German side until the end of the 2013-2014 season. His second season saw him play every minute of every league match that season, a feat only three other
players had achieved.
It was in the January transfer window of 2010 that Subotic was first approached by the English Premier League giants, Chelsea. The Blues were desperate to land the talented defender following poor form by their existing defenders.
Then manager Carlo Ancelotti was involved in negotiations with the German side throughout the winter transfer window, but Borussia Dortmund did not want to sell one of their best players. The London club reportedly offered a bid of £17.5 million for Subotic,
which was turned down.
In the summer transfer window, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were once again known to resume their interest in Subotic but the player revealed he was not interested in a move away. He insisted he was happy with Borussia Dortmund, but hinted he would consider a move to a top club
in the future.
Subotic said while speaking to reporters:
“There really isn't any reason for me to leave this club.
Dortmund is an amazing city. I will never switch clubs within http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. If I move it will be to a nice foreign club.”
