Since his breakthrough at Santos, Neymar has been the target of Europe’s elite, with many clubs apparently coming close to securing his services in the last summer transfer window. However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international decided to stay on with his boyhood club.
He has now gone on to extend his contract by two years, which means he will stay on with Santos until the end of the 2013-2014 season. It seems Chelsea and the La Liga giants will have to further wait before they can once again begin a bidding war.
It was initially rumoured that Neymar would leave Santos in the January transfer window to either of the previously mentioned sides in a big money move, but the youngster went on to confirm that he intended to remain with Santos.
He has now backed his claims by signing the contract extension, which will keep him at the Brazilian outfit longer than any of the other clubs will like. The Santos president Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-c5280 Oliveira Ribeiro confirmed Neymar was continuing on with the club.
Ribeiro said while speaking to reporters:
“Neymar will continue with us until 2014, the contract is signed.”
According to Neymar, his current club is the reason why he has developed into a superstar at such a young age which is why he is in no hurry to leave. Having graduated from the youth academy in 2009, Neymar has gone on to make quite a name for himself.
It was his improvement and superb performances with Santos that earned him a place in the senior Brazil squad, where he has performed brilliantly. Neymar must feel he can further develop at the club which is probably why he has decided to stay.
The player revealed he had discussed the matter with his family before coming to a final decision, he said:
“I am very happy, it is a decision I took with my family.”
