Despite being linked to Europe’s elite sides, Jovetic has played down speculation of him heading towards a Fiorentina exit in the upcoming transfer window. The youngster confirmed that he had not been approached by any club as yet and all the news regarding
a possible move was speculation.
While Jovetic admitted he was flattered by the interest shown in him by top sides, he was currently focused on doing well for Fiorentina. With two years remaining on his current contract, the youngster revealed he was discussing a contract extension with
the club.
Jovetic said while speaking to reporters:
“I read in the newspaper that many clubs are interested, including Manchester City, Barcelona and Chelsea.
I don't know if any of it is true, but I'm always focused on Fiorentina. When I get the offers and the time comes for these things, we'll think about it.
Meanwhile, I am thinking of Fiorentina. I still have a two-year contract and we are also talking about an extension of the contract.”
The Montenegrin transferred to the Serie A side in the summer of 2009 from Partizan Belgrade for a transfer fee of £7.3 million. So far Jovetic has gone on to make 75 appearances in all competitions and has managed to score 15 goals.
The player’s agent revealed that the interest from other clubs was just speculation at this point and confirmed that he had not been approached with any offers. He insisted Jovetic was really happy with the Serie A side and they were currently working on
getting him a contract extension.
His agent confirmed:
“These are just rumours that I don't want to comment on. Our priority is to meet with the leaders at Fiorentina.”
