English Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay as much as £30 million to bring in Javier Pastore, the 21-year-old Palermo playmaker. Recent reports reveal that Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has had his eyes on the Argentine international
and is determine to sign him over the summer.
Pastore has been given a value of £60 million by Palermo and it is not certain whether the Blues will be willing or able to meet that price. Negotiations are yet to take place but it is expected that the London side will only buy the player if the price
is lowered.
This may very well start a bidding war between the top sides who are interested in the youngster, with Real Madrid and Chelsea emerging as top contenders. The La Liga side had already had their offer turned down in 2010 and will go for seconds in the upcoming
transfer window.
Manchester United are another side who are eyeing the attacking midfielder for a possible move to Manchester United at the end of the campaign. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been highly impressed with the Argentinean and is thought to be preparing for
the bidding war.
Pastore, who is also referred to as El Flaco, arrived at Palermo from Argentine outfit Huracan for a fee of $8 million in 2009. Since then he has made 59 appearances for the club and has managed to find the back of the net 13 times. In his first season with
the Serie A side, he helped them to a fifth place finish, earning him praise by supporters and pundits alike.
Since the very beginning he has been linked with sides like Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. However, the Palermo owner Zamparini said he felt that the other Serie A sides would not be able to afford the playmaker and predicted
a move abroad for him.
Maurizio Zamparini said while speaking to reporters, “Until the end of season he will play for Palermo. Despite my interest for the club and player, I am already looking for his replacement. I feel it will be difficult for an Italian club to buy him. His
price is already high at €70m (£60m) - he will move abroad.”
Arsenal and Tottenham to battle for Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain
London sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to battle it out for 17-year-old Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain. The Southampton midfielder has caught the eye of top Premier League sides with his brilliant displays in the Championship this side.

However, Ferguson will be facing severe competition from Arsene Wenger and Harry Redknapp, both of whom have previously admitted their interest in the youngster. The summer transfer window will most likely see Chamberlain leave Southampton for the Premier
League.
