Chelsea to retain Fernando Torres, Andre Villas-Boas confirms

English Premier League giants Chelsea have denied rumours that they are planning to sell striker Fernando Torres in the upcoming transfer window and claimed such reports were nonsense.
It was reported in the Daily Mail that the Blues had given up on striker Fernando Torres and were planning to sell him for £20 million in the January transfer window. The misfiring Spaniard has managed to score just five goals for the London side since joining
in the winter transfer window of the 2010-2011 season.
That makes it five goals and six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions since he joined, not an impressive figure at all. Having reportedly given up on him, manager Andre Villas-Boas has decided to sell Torres in the winter transfer window and bring
in someone else.
Torres was brought in from rivals Liverpool for a record transfer fee of £50 million while Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of the club in the January transfer window of 2011. However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international failed to impress and has not been
in the starting XI under Villas-Boas.
However, the Blues were quick to deny the reports claiming Torres remained part of their long term plans and they had no plans of selling him any time soon. An official statement released by the club in response to the false reports read:
“The story is nonsense. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 remains part of our long term plans.”
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Villas-Boas claimed there were both good and bad moments in a player’s career and he understood if Torres wasn’t having the best of luck on the pitch. He compared the striker to when he was at Liverpool and had been one of the
top strikers in the English Premier League.
Villas-Boas said in an interview:
“In a career or a person's life, you have better moments and worse moments.
At the moment, Fernando's best moments in terms of goal scoring were the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 days. That does not mean those days won't arrive in this club, and that does not mean that, at the moment, he is not performing for the team, because he is.”
