Sources reveal that Chelsea are ready to agree to new contracts with French youngster Gael Kakuta and Serbian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994.
As the January transfer window approaches, the Blues are determined to maintain the services of these two players and a renewal of their contracts seems to be the best way to ward off interest from other clubs.
Apparently, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Lyon and Paris St Germain have showed a healthy amount of interest in Kakuta. The 19-year old will be out of contract by the end of this summer, which means he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another
side this January. Thus, the Blues are determined to sign a new contract, which would keep him at Stamford Bridge in the near future.
Sources close to the club reveal that the player is “very close” to confirming a new deal. The defending champions are determined to retain the Kakuta, who is predicted to be destined to great things. The French midfielder has not yet managed to confirm
his place in the first team yet, but has had countless opportunity and experience since many of the important players were injured.
It has been reported that a deal of four years, worth around £40,000-a-week, is in the process of being agreed to. If Kakuta does indeed sign a new contract with the Blues, they would be strengthened going into the new year. Along with signing new players,
it is important at this stage to retain the existing ones, especially someone like Kakuta.
Kakuta is only 19, but he has shown maturity beyond his years when he is on the field. He has incredible pace and an eye for goal, a valuable asset for the Blues. Especially after witnessing the summer signings and departures, Ancelotti will be determined
to step in and make sure Kakuta decides to stay with Chelsea.
Along with Kakuta, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are also currently negotiating a contract with the Serbian defender, Ivanovic. He is currently being courted by Internazionale and Juventus, and might be tempted by the thought of a move to the Serie A. Ivanovic only has about
18 months left on his current contract and could very well be on his way out if a new deal is not agreed upon.
Reports suggest that the club is offering the defender £60,000-a-week in order to keep him at Stamford Bridge. At this point, the Blues cannot afford to have Ivanovic leave; they are already unsuccessfully dealing with a defender crisis. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895
and Alex not completely fit, Ancelotti cannot have Ivanovic leaving, it would leave him with completely inexperienced defenders.
Chelsea have now gone five games without a win in the Premier League and have dropped to fourth place below Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City. Their last fixture ended 1-1 against Tottenham at White Hart Lane and with their clash against Manchester
United postponed because of the snow; the Blues are now preparing to take on Arsenal this week.
As if the recent slump was not enough, there have been reports that there is a split between the English speaking and French-speaking players. It is this divide within the squad which has been accused to affecting their performances and thus their results.
However, Chelsea skipper John Terry denied all such rumours.
He said, “I have seen a couple of things about the players questioning each other and not being committed enough – it's absolute rubbish. It's so frustrating to read. The players are passionate about turning this corner and going on a good run. We believe
playing like we did against Spurs, we can win the League. As long as we stay solid, the fans stay with us, I'm sure playing like this, we're going to be back.”
