Chelsea top goal scorer Florent Malouda confident about his future at Stamford Bridge
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, the 30-year-old Chelsea winger, revealed he was not pleased with the rumors regarding his future at Stamford Bridge. There have been rumors suggesting that a mass exodus would be underway at Stamford Bridge as soon as the current season
ended.
Malouda, along with some of the other older players at the London club, has been linked with a move away. It is believed Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti and the Blues owner Roman Abramovich have a new vision for the future of the club and it does not involve
many of the existing players.
Strikers Didier Drogba, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 and Malouda are just a few of the players who are expected to be sold off during the upcoming summer transfer window to make room for new arrivals. However, the France international is certain he has a future with the
Blues.
Malouda is currently the top goal scorer for Chelsea, despite the fact they have the likes of Drogba, Torres, Anelka and Kalou in their impressive strike force. So far the French winger has scored 13 goals in the Premier League, his highest since he joined
Chelsea in the summer of 2007.
Malouda ended his goal drought when he found the back of the net against West Ham United, the same fixture in which Torres scored his first goal for the Blues. The 30-year-old was confident he could improve his goal tally, with three games remaining in the
season.
Malouda said while speaking to reporters, “The goal against West Ham was really instinctive. The ball was there and it was like a challenge, because, if I waited half a second more, the defender would have had time to tackle me. But of course, I will be
pleased if I add another goal to it.”
The Frenchman has undoubtedly played a big part in his side’s revival, which saw them overcome their worst slump in over 15 years and become title contenders once again. Chelsea are currently at second place on the Premier League table, just three points
behind league leaders Manchester United.
They have a realistic chance of going top of the table once again as they are set to travel to Old Trafford on Sunday to take on Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. A win would see Chelsea reclaim their place at number one, level on points but ahead on goal difference.
While he was confident he was an important part of the Blues first team and would find the back of the net again, Malouda believes Drogba would go on to beat him to the title of the highest goal scorer for the club.
The Blues winger continued, “At the moment I have scored more than http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044, but that is not normal. Didier will finish ahead of me, without any doubt. I'm pleased because there are only three games left in the season and it means I'm an important member
of the squad if I am the top scorer.”
Malouda joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 from Ligue 1 side Lyon in 2007 for a fee of £13 million, since then he has made a total of 180 appearances in all competitions and has an impressive goal tally of 42 goals.
