Chelsea and Aston Villa chase Darren Bent
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is apparently considering making an offer for Sunderland’s Darren Bent during the January transfer window after media reports surfaced that Aston Villa were interested in signing the player as well.
The Blues have been struggling this season in terms of goals scored and games won, with their star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 shooting blanks this season. Bent on the other hand has been brilliant, scoring an impressive 24 goals for Sunderland last season, where
he arrived last summer. The striker has incredible pace and has maintained his goal-scoring form for every club that he has played for. Should Ancelotti bring in the striker at this stage in the season, the Blues could use some firepower to boost their chances
of finishing in the top four in the English Premier League table.
If Ancelotti plans to land Bent at Stamford Bridge he should act quickly because Aston Villa are also determined to sign the player. The race for the Sunderland striker began when he handed in a transfer request, which shocked
the Sunderland boss Steve Bruce. A source close to Bruce said while speaking to reporters, “The transfer request came like a bolt out of the blue. It’s left Steve stunned and upset. Steve wanted to keep Bent, but he can understand the club’s position since
it is a lot of money for a player who wants away.” Bent has maintained his form this season, scoring seven goals so far this season. However, the 26-year-old striker is ready to move on and Villa are reportedly willing to pay £24m for his signature.
Chelsea chase Alexis Sanchez
An official statement from Udinese confirmed that English Premier League defending champions Chelsea were interested in 22-year-old Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international is considered as one of the upcoming talents in Europe
and the Blues are looking to bring him over during the January transfer window. Serie A side Inter Milan were also interested in Sanchez, but gave up the chase when they realized the player would not be moving any time soon while the Blues remain persistent.
Giampaolo Pozzo, the Udinese owner, confirmed he had talks with Chelsea and said the Premier League giants were offering €30 million for the young striker. However, he ruled out a move during the winter transfer window. He said
in an interview, “What is Sanchez's value? With Chelsea we talked about €30million. I want this figure, if not more. There was also interest from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, which we decided to stop. It's useless to talk about something that we don't want to do because we
cannot remove anyone from the team when we are midway through a season.”
Chelsea close to signing David Luiz
Media reports reveal that the Blues are very close to signing Benfica defender David Luiz, who has been Carlo Ancelotti’s main target to improve his ailing defence. Chelsea originally lodged a £16.5 million bid for the defender
that was rejected by Benfica. However, a deal estimated to be worth £22 million seems to have been agreed upon. If the reports are to be believed then Luiz will be arriving at Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline, which is January 31st.
Following the defensive crisis at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Ancelotti will be relieved to have Luiz join the club, which will definitely improve their performance.
