Defending champions Chelsea are reportedly very close to signing Benfica defender David Luiz for whopping 21.5 million pounds. The Blues are confident the 23-year-old will be arriving at Stamford Bridge soon, making him their biggest
buy since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Carlo Ancelotti thinks the central defender is worth the price. The Blues defence revival is
necessary and Luiz promises to provide exactly that, which is why Ancelotti is determined to land the player in the January transfer window.
Media reports revealed that talks between Chelsea and Benfica are to start this week and Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Filipe-c13764 Vieira, the Benfica president, will be participating. It was also revealed that Chelsea youngsters, Jeffery Bruma and/or Patrick
van Aanholt could be on their way to the Portuguese outfit on a loan move, as part of the initial deal. A big indication that the deal is on the verge of being completed was the fact that Luiz was left out of the squad during Benfica’s 4-2 win over Nacional
over the weekend.
Carlo Ancelotti reserved over talks about Alexis Sanchez
Carlo Ancelotti denied holding talks with Giampaolo Pozzo, the Udinese owner, over a possible deal for the Chilean attacking midfielder Alexis Sanchez. Since the start of the season, the Blues have been heavily linked with the
22-year-old midfielder who was apparently not for sale. However, a deal of 25 million pounds, if agreed upon, could very well see the young midfielder on his way to Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti denied of any such talks taking place and refused to be aware of an improved deal for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 international. He said while speaking to reporters, “It's not true that we've spoken with the owner of Udinese. I don't like
to speak about this because it's confidential.” If Chelsea plan to sign the attacking midfielder, they will have to step up their efforts as Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan are known to be monitoring the player as well.
Andrei Arshavin could be arriving at Stamford Bridge
According to media reports Chelsea are preparing a bid for Russian international Andrei Arshavin, who seems to be having a tough time at Arsenal. A switch to the better part of London could soon be reality if Ancelotti makes an
official bid and if it is accepted by Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger. Arshavin has been in decent form for the Gunners, scoring seven goals and providing the most assists overall. However, few poor performances recently have made him a regular bench warmer.
Ancelotti might be pushed to bring in the Russian winger because of the player’s close relationship with Blues owner Roman Abramovich. However, along with Chelsea, Zenit St. Petersburg are also interested in bringing back their
former player. With 18 months left on his current contract, he is worth an approximate 10 million pounds. Looking to keep the player at Emirates stadium Arsene Wenger said, “He is going through a period that is a bit difficult at the moment, but he works very
hard in training.”
