Chelsea urge Ashley Cole to stay at Stamford Bridge
The Chelsea chairman, Bruce Buck strongly believes that Ashley Cole will not be able to escape the media invading his private life no matter where he transfers.
The left back who plays for Chelsea and is an active member of the English national squad, has had almost every single one of his moves tracked by the paparazzi who have given him the image of being public enemy numero uno, ever since he separated from his wife who just so happens to be the singing sensation, Cheryl Cole.
Ashley Cole still has three years left on his contract at the Stamford Bridge and has admitted his love for playing for the club, but he has insisted that he cannot tolerate the manner with which his personal life is being monitored by the public due to the interference of the media. His family and friends have disclosed that the situation has become so bad that the player has already seriously considered moving to intercontinental shores.
Real Madrid are now being managed by Chelsea’s former coach, Jose Mourinho, who has expressed his interest in signing the player. The Chelsea chairman however has repeatedly expressed how the player will not be made available under any circumstance. He went on to say, "Ashley is a superb player. He is a delight to deal with around the football club, he gets on very well with everyone, he trains very well and he is really a model athlete," Buck said. "Obviously, he is not happy with how his private life has become the focus of everything around him and I think we'd like to work with him so that he has a bit of a lower profile. We don't think the problem will change if he went somewhere outside the UK, so I think we want to work with him here to make his personal life more enjoyable."
Buck was then asked if he knew the extent of Cole’s problems and whether or not players at Chelsea were given special help in such situations, he replied by saying, "We tell all our players that they might have personal issues that we want to help them with as much as we can and even Carlo [Ancelotti, the manager] has said that on several occasions," "There is a limit to what we can do but obviously we want to support our players and we want them to be happy not only on the pitch but also in their private lives. If you are not happy in your private life, it's hard to focus on your professional life."
He went on to say that if Cole did manage to end up at Real Madrid it would be highly unlikely that the media would stop pursuing him. In fact, he said it might make the situation even worse since it would appear as though he was running away from something, which would indirectly indicate that he did something wrong to begin with. He ended by saying that the grass might appear greener on the other side, but that won’t be the case with Cole, since for him the grass is equally as green everywhere. He also recommended that the player could receive special treatment which would see him go under cover for a while and stay on a low profile till the media finds something else to go crazy about.
