Chelsea and Liverpool took on each other at Stamford Bridge in the Carling Cup quarterfinals as both the teams looked to get a berth in the semi-finals of the domestic league cup competition. Andres Villas Boas who was under tremendous

Soon Kenny Dalglish’s men added to their one goal advantage in the 63rd minute when Bellamy’s cross was met emphatically by a header from Kelly. With the score line at 2-0, Chelsea pushed onwards to get a foothold in
the match but Liverpool’s resilient defending meant that the encounter ended in a win for the Reds who marched into the Carling Cup semi-finals courtesy of Chelsea’s lacklustre defending.
