The Barclays Premier League season has reached its halfway point and Fantasy Premier League managers who want to know how individual players did need only read on.
Juan Mata: 2 points – seemingly the only positive spark in the entire Chelsea side these days, Mata was left a frustrated figure by the time the final whistle blew and his tally of 2 points left everyone unimpressed on the night.
Frank Lampard: 1 point – it will be a match that the England international would soon like to forget as his misplaced pass led to Villa’s third goal and put the game beyond the home side’s reach. He only received one point for playing 34
minutes in a frustrating affair.
Oriol Romeu: 1 point – it seems that Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas likes to mess about with Fantasy Premier League managers as Romeu was substituted on the 56 minute mark to end up with only one point.
Didier Drogba: 6 points – the veteran striker got his name on the score sheet with a well brave spot kick, yet there will be concerns as to where the goals for Chelsea will come from with the Drogba set to depart for the African Cup of Nations.
Daniel Sturridge: 2 points – just could not find a way past the Aston Villa back four as he managed to bag just two points.
Fernando Torres: 1 point – despite making a bright start after coming on from the bench, Torres became a peripheral figure as the match wore on and his one point was all he deserved.
Aston Villa
Bradley Guzan: 2 points – the Villa keeper could have easily earned more points had his side not given away the penalty and it seems rather harsh that he only came away with the two points.
Ciaran Clark: 6 points – the Aston Villa defender put in a solid performance at the back and helped set up one of the goals to bag an impressive six points on the night.
James Collins, Stephen Warnock and David Dunne: 2 points – apart from conceding the goal the back four put in a resilient performance. Sadly, the Fantasy Premier League does not award points for resilient performances.
Stephen Ireland: 13 points – the former Manchester City player stole the show as he set up one goal and scored another to bag home an impressive tally of 13 points.
Stiliyan Petrov: 9 points – the veteran midfield man got his name on the score sheet and put in a brilliant all round performance, but got his reward only for the first bit.
Charles N’Zogbia: 5 points – helped set up one of his side’s goals and his assist helped raise him above the rest of the players.
Darren Bent: 5 points – rumoured to be a target for Liverpool, the England international did not harm his chances of changing sides in the transfer window with a well taken goal near the end of the match.
