http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 vs Aston Villa: Six goal thriller ends in a draw
Chelsea were looking to take on Aston Villa at home, in a game that was a must win for the team. Arsenal had already managed to beat Birmingham on Saturday and as a result all the pressure was on the Blue's to try and match the
pace of the Gunners. However, considering the team had performed rather poor lately, this match wasn't going to be as easy as was initially thought to be.
The match kicked off in a remarkable fashion as both the teams were looking to go at it from the very first minute. It was initially assumed that Chelsea would crumple Villa, but that did not appear to be the case early on. However,
on the twenty first minute mark all of that change as the home side were awarded a penalty.
Collins rose over Malouda to try and head the ball, but used his arms to get over the player and as a result a penalty was awarded. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 took the resulting spot kick and made no mistake to give the home side the lead.
However, four minutes before the end of the half, it was Villa who had a spot kick awarded in their favor on the other end of the pitch. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-Reo-Coker-c27884 and the referee didn't hesitate before pointing
to the spot. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813 took the resulting kick and blasted his effort in to the top of the net.
As a result both teams went into the half time break with one goal credited to each of their names.
After just three minutes into the second half, Villa took the surprise lead. Ashley Young floated in a brilliant free-kick to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 Downing, who then crossed a ball for Heskey and the giant striker leapt brilliantly to find the
back of the net and give the visitors a two goals to one advantage.
The game was pretty evenly poised for the rest of the second half, till there were just six minutes left on the clock.
On the eighty fourth minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 managed to pounce on a rebounded shot, to give the home side the equalizing goal, with a hope that they could potentially get something out of the game.
Then with just a minute to go, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 manged to get on the end of another rebounded effort to give Chelsea the lead by three goals to two.
However, with the match now looking to be as good as over, Villa sprung an attack in the second minute of extra time. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ciaran-Clark-c9247 managed to beat a lazy Chelsea defense and draw the
scores level once again with his head.
The match finally ended in a draw with both the teams sharing one point each.
