Chelsea vs. Liverpool – Premier League Review (Part 2)
The newly signed Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez had to start from the bench yet again as Kenny Dalglish introduced his starting 11. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 tactician was relying on his old tactics with a formation of 3-5-2. The three centre backs were aided by two
wing backs, Glenn Johnson and Kelly. The three midfielders included Steven http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348. With this formation, “King Kenny” managed to get four wins before the game along with three
clean sheets.
History was not there to support the Reds. Liverpool never won a single game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 since 2004 and definitely if “King Kenny” had to impress the Anfield fans against any team, it was Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Surprisingly, the first chance of the game fell for the Spanish striker Fernando Torres. The Liverpool striker Maxi Rodriguez definitely thought that “Nando” was still in his team as he played him a back pass. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 decided to go at goal with his
second touch, even though Didier Drogba was available to him. The shot taken by the Spaniard found midair and was totally off the target as he decided to go for power rather than technique.
Liverpool was playing counter attacking football while being away from home. All the men were tracking back to add more players at the back. It was the right wing back, Kelly, who gave a perfect pass towards Dirk Kuyt on the right flank during a counter
attack. The Dutchman had the perfect opportunity to find http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895.
The only thing that seemed entertaining during the first half hour of the game was the fact that Torres was having a difficult time against his former team. They were not even letting the Spaniard take a single pass as he was always covered with a lot of
red shirts. It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 who blocked his run and gave the Spaniard a good knock over the nose to allow Chelsea a chance on goal from a free kick. However, the free kick was not well taken and a good opportunity was thrown away by the home team.
Chelsea finally found itself on a break when a pass from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 right outside the 18-yard box. A wonderful run made by Fernando Torres was tracked by Drogba as the former gave the latter a wonderful through ball. It was
for the first time that Chelsea were able to penetrate through the Liverpool back line. Right when Torres looked to be clear on goal, it was the Liverpool captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728, who slid in and prevented Torres from making his dream debut with the new club.
