Chelsea vs. Manchester City: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 and Ramires power Chelsea to a 2-0 win
Chelsea managed to hold on to their lingering hopes of retaining the Premier League crown by beating Manchester City by 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. David Luiz, the winter signing who scored against Manchester United earlier, got his 2nd goal of the
season against a dull looking City side. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 wrapped up the win with a second goal later on.
The 3 points lifted Chelsea to 3rd place, and the Blues leapfrogged their opponents Manchester City who had been in 3rd place for a while. Chelsea are still 9 points behind Manchester United, who beat Bolton on Saturday.
Before the match began, City were dealt a big blow, as Carlos Tevez was ruled out injured. The absence of the Argentine front-man was a big boost for Chelsea, as the former Manchester United striker has scored 4 times against the Blues since leaving Old
Trafford.
City’s Italian striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 was also not included in the starting line-up for his debacle over midweek. He had apologized to the manager and teammates for his outburst in a Europa League fixture that saw the Italian plant his studs on a Dynamo
Kiev player’s chest and thigh. The inexplicable move resulted in him being shown a straight red card, leaving Manchester City to play most of the match with 10 men, which they eventually lost. Following the incident, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 decided to bench his barbarian
for the Chelsea clash.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello was watching the game from the stands, and Terry knew he had to be
at his very best.
The Chelsea captain though, did not start the match on an ideal note, he was slow to react as Yaya Toure made his way through the Chelsea defence. The former Barcelona player was given too much space as he took a shot from 20 yards out, which the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837, eventually saved.
Manchester City started the game on the front foot, and on the break the visitors looked dangerous. But it was Chelsea who had the best chance of the game’s initial exchanges. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 and Ramires could not decide between them as to who should take
the shot and the chance went begging.
That was the move that got Chelsea back into the game. The Londoners got their act together, and continued to hound the City goal. However, despite Chelsea being the dominating force, there were hardly any clear cut chances to talk about, and both goalkeepers
could be seen resting their heads on the goalposts.

nicely but the French man could not finish.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti waited till the 70 minute mark to make the much needed change as Fernando Torres and Florent Malouda were taken off for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786.
The goal however, came from an unexpected source. David Luiz was the man who earned a free kick on edge of the area and as Drogba sent in the ball, Luiz was in a perfect position to head it in to make it 1-0.
Ramires killed off the game in stoppage time as he took full advantage of City committing too many men forward. The player danced past three City players into the box and fired a shot to make it 2-0.
The victory has done Chelsea’s hope of retaining the title a huge favour and Ancelotti’s men will be looking to get some inspiration from this well-timed win, in their remaining fixtures. Chelsea next face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday,
April 2, 2011.
