Chelsea vs. Swansea: Fantasy Premier League Picks – Gameweek 6
The Barclays Premier League is back in session after the team went through their Third Round Carling Cup matches in midweek. There was plenty of action for those who braved the elements to watch those matches, however, everyone will feel more at home when
the weekend of Premier League action resumes.
Two sides who will be looking to get a result on Saturday will be Chelsea and Swansea, as the two squads face off at Stamford Bridge.
Overview
Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Barclays Premier League after their 3-1 loss at the hands of Manchester United in Gameweek 5. An unconvincing win in midweek against Fulham in the Carling Cup, will have raised spirits slightly,
however, it will also have added the factor of fatigue as well.
Swansea, on the other hand, will be looking to take advantage of some tired Chelsea legs as they will want to capitalise on the fact that the Blues’ match went to penalties. Chelsea do have strength in depth and with Didier Drogba likely to return to action
and Frank Lampard not having played the entire match, the home side will still pose a considerable threat and should walk away with a win.
Goal Keepers
Swansea keeper, Michel Vorm, has been in sensational point scoring form this season and sits in third place for most points earned by a keeper in the Fantasy Premier League season so far. At the same time though, one has to ask the question whether he can
keep Chelsea’s forward line at bay, away from home.
On the other hand there is Petr Cech, who apart from a poor display at Old Trafford, seems to be getting back to his ‘wall’ self. In fact, he would be a good choice for anyone who is looking for a Goal Keeper for their side.
Defenders
Neil Taylor has found life in the Premier League very enjoyable thus far; earning himself a rather impressive tally of 23 points in the season.
Yet, with the likes of Juan Mata, Frank Lampard, Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba breathing down his and his fellow defenders’ necks, it would be wise to keep oneself from selecting any Swansea defenders this Gameweek.
On the other hand, the Chelsea wing backs have not lived up to the standards Fantasy Premier League managers expect of them. At the same time though, David Luiz is someone every manager should be considering having on their team.
Midfielders
No disrespect to Swansea but the calibre of players at Chelsea’s disposal in this area sees us seeing only one colour and that is blue.
Juan Mata would be a strong choice as he continues to tease everyone with his talent, however, if managers do have Frank Lampard, they should keep him as he will be looking to get over his penalty miss.
Strikers
Didier Drogba looks likely to mark his return since the collision which left him unconscious and Fernando Torres was rested from midweek action. So, either of the two would suffice.
For Swansea though, we just cannot see the likes of Leroy Lita getting any joy against the Chelsea back four.
Our Picks: Hoping that lightening strikes twice, we are going with Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres. He was his side’s sharpest player last weekend and was rested in midweek as well.
