Chelsea winger Florent Malouda defends under-fire boss Carlo Ancelotti
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, the 30-year-old Chelsea winger, revealed he did not think Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti should be sacked at the end of the season. The Italian manager has been linked with a Stamford Bridge exit following a highly disappointing season,
which is close to an end without the Blues having failed to secure any silverware.
The Blues boss has come under severe criticism and there have been rumors that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is already on the look-out for a replacement. The likes of former Chelsea managers Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink have been linked with a return
and Marcello Lippi, Rafael Benitez, Harry Redknapp, Pep Guardiola and Frank Rijkaard are also apparently on the list.
However, Malouda along with the rest of the Blues believes Ancelotti alone is not to blame for the disappointing season. The Frenchman has not forgotten the incredible success Ancelotti delivered in his first season with the London club, leading them to
their first ever domestic double of the English Premier League and the FA Cup.
Malouda said while speaking to reporters, “It's unfair. He's one of the greatest managers. He's good tactically. He's brought stability to the club, won the double at the first attempt. Because we are now out of three competitions and six points behind United,
people outside are saying Chelsea should change everything. But all the big clubs have stability.”
The Blues started off the season where they had left off the previous one, maintaining their spot at the top of the league and doing well in all three cup competitions. However, they suffered their worst slump in over 15 years which saw them exit the cup
competitions and slip from the top of the Premier League table, out of the top four.
However, Ancelotti managed to steer the Blues back on track and they are currently at second place on the table, six points behind league leaders Manchester United. With four games remaining, there is renewed faith in the rejuvenated Chelsea squad that they
can retain the Premier League title if they win their remaining fixtures and if Manchester United lose at least two of their matches.
Malouda, further reiterating his support for the manager, said, “Everybody seems to want to put pressure on Ancelotti but he's really cool. He knows the squad supports him. That's the most important thing for him. I want Ancelotti to stay. Players come and
go but the manager is the key. We can win the Champions League under him one day.”
