http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 winger Florent Malouda wants Guus Hiddink as manager at Stamford Bridge next season
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, the 30-year-old Chelsea winger, said he believed Guus Hiddink would be the best manager to replace the recently sacked Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager was sacked after the last match of the season, a 1-0 loss in an away English Premier League fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043.
With Ancelotti gone, the speculation as to who will take over the manager’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 has been out of hand, with almost all the top manager’s in Europe linked with the job.
From http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid’s Jose Mourinho to Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, the rumour mill has been running amuck with Ancelotti’s possible replacement in the summer.
Up until last week, it was claimed that the Blues had found their new manager and that he would be unveiled at the start of the week, today.
It was rumoured that Chelsea had decided on the Spur’s boss Harry Redknapp, who would be switching clubs to take over the Blues.
What seemed to confirm the rumour was the fact that Redknapp had been spotted at Cobham, which he later claimed was just to visit his nephew and Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097.
The rumour has been squashed, with Redknapp himself claiming he was not interested in taking over the hot-seat at Stamford Bridge.
Many players at Chelsea have remained quite as to their preference of the future manager at the club, but Malouda recently spoke out on the matter.
The Frenchman claimed he felt that Hiddink would be the best option, having previously proved himself at the club.
Hiddink took the role of the caretaker manager at Chelsea towards the end of the 2008-2009 season, leading an out of form squad to a FA Cup trophy.
He is considered as one of the most successful managers at the club and is thought to be one of the few managers who can help lead the Blues out of their slump.
Malouda said while speaking to reporters:
“I have a lot of respect for him. When he came we were in a difficult situation in terms of results.
He brought back confidence, I think. He improved our game and led us in the Champions League and FA Cup.
He put the club back on the right way. It was short term. It was really quick, but it was really intense.
You have to take your time to make the right choices and that is what the board is doing.
I think we have a strong squad and when you want to add an ingredient to the squad you have to take your time.”
When Hiddink took over the Blues, he had little chance to help them win the Premier League title since they were too far off league leaders Manchester United.
However, he did brilliantly in the cup competitions, winning the FA Cup and going out in the Champions League to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in a highly controversial match.
Guus Hiddink is undoubtedly the favourite to take over the Chelsea manager’s post, but it remains to be seen if he will since he is already contracted to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 national side.
