Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta reveals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 was key in his decision to pick Bolton Wanderers over Fulham
Gael Kakuta, the 20-year-old Chelsea forward, revealed he had been forced to leave Stamford Bridge on a loan move to Bolton Wanderers because of lack of regular first team football. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 under-20 international has left for his second loan move
since joining the Blues, having joined Fulham in the January transfer window of 2010-2011 season.
Under new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Andre Villas-Boas, the Frenchman was once again given the opportunity to leave for Craven Cottage for yet another loan move. However, Kakuta turned down the chance to return to Fulham and instead opted for a move to Bolton Wanderers.
Apart from the obvious reasons, Kakuta revealed Chelsea teammate Daniel Sturridge had played a role in helping him decide on the Wanderers.
The winger c*m forward admitted that there were far more experienced and older players currently present at the London club, because of which his chances at first team football had been greatly reduced. It was for this reason that Kakuta felt he had to make
a move to another Premier League side to gain valuable experience which would be useful once he returned to Chelsea.
Kakuta said while speaking to reporters:
“When you're young you have to be patient because you have big players at Chelsea that have lots of international and club experience.”
While he understood Villas-Boas’ choice to field the older players ahead of him, he claimed making substitute appearances towards the end of each match every week was not enough for him. Kakuta revealed he was keen to get in regular football at the Reebok
Stadium in the half-a-season long, after which he will be returning to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window of 2012.
He added:
“But I need to play as I am 20 years old. I need to get some experience and not play just 20 minutes a week.”
Kakuta admitted he was initially set to rejoin Fulham on a loan move, but after Bolton Wanderers showed interest during the summer transfer window he reconsidered his choice. He had help from Sturridge, the 22-year-old English striker, who spent four months
at Bolton Wanderers and had great things to say about the club. There has been a noticeable improvement in his form after his short loan spell at the club.
Sturridge found himself in terrific goal scoring form at the club, making 12 appearances in the Premier League for Bolton and scoring eight goals. Upon returning he was given a chance to prove himself at the London club by Villas-Boas and he preformed really
well in pre-season. The French winger said he was hoping to make the same progress as the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international.
Kakuta said:
“Bolton is a great club. I chose to come here because I think it is the right place for me to come to improve.”
The French forward continued:
“It will be a great thing for me to go back to Chelsea with more experience as the coach will trust me more at the weekend and I will be more of a first-team player.”
