According to Chelsea winger Juan Mata, the Blues are determined to win the UEFA Champions League trophy after failing to finish in the top four of the English Premier League.
Winning the coveted European trophy for the first time will not be enough as the Blues will look to secure a place in next season Champions League. However, to achieve that Chelsea will have to defeat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on 19th
May.
Mata revealed he was certain his side were motivated enough to defeat the German giants in the final of the Champions League. He admitted the failure to secure a place in the top four had only added to their determination to emerge winners in the upcoming
match.
Mata said in an interview:
“Chelsea always want to be in the Champions League.”
Since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich took over the club the Blues have managed to qualify for the Champions League season after season. Next season could be an exception if they are unable to secure a win against Bayern Munich.
After young Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas was sacked mid-season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo was installed as the caretaker manager. Mata was full of praise for the Italian boss, claiming he had worked hard to get the Blues where they were today, FA Cup winners
and in the UEFA Champions League final.
He revealed:
“Robbie's a very good guy, a very good person. He has character, he knows http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. He used to play, now he's training. So he's a very good manager and we are all with him.”
However, Mata claimed he was not aware of Di Matteo’s future with the club. As for his own future, Mata was determined to continue playing on for club and country in every fixture possible. The 24-year-old felt he had enough energy to feature every weekend.
Mata admitted:
“It's true that I have played a lot of games, more than ever for me. But it's what I want. I always want to play and, after in the summer, we have the Euros and Olympic Games. I'm still young and I want to play every weekend.”
