Chelsea’s Ashley Cole claims that he thrives under pressure: Premier League news
Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has claimed that it is a thirst to achieve success that drives him. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international’s comments come just before his side’s potentially title deciding Premier League encounter against arch-rivals Manchester United at
Old Trafford.
Despite enduring one of their worst run patches of form in more than a decade, Chelsea are somehow still in the race for the Barclays Premier League title. At one point, the Blues were 15 points behind leaders Manchester United, but a stellar run of form
in recent weeks has seen them claw back the deficit to a mere three points.
Chelsea will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday in what is shaping up to be the biggest game of the Premier League season so far. United are just three points ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, and a win for the Blues in that match would see them leapfrog the
Red Devils to move up to the top of the standings on goal difference. Should the Blues manage to win all three points from Old Trafford, the ultimate destination of the Premier League crown will come down to the final two games of the season.
The title is still United’s to lose though, and the pressure will be on Chelsea to get a positive result on Sunday. Far from being put off by the stress of the season run-in, Blues defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 actually welcomes it.
Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Cole said, “When you win things, that's what makes you realise how good it is. I think the pressure is what drives people on. It makes you want to prove something, to carry on going and keep on winning
things. I just want to win anything because I love the feeling. When you stop getting that feeling, I think that's when a lot of players tend to stop playing football because they haven't got the desire any more.”
He added, "I've still got many years of that desire left in me and the players we have here are all the same as me in that respect.”
Chelsea are currently in second place in the Premier League standings with 70 points.
