Chelsea winger Florent Malouda revealed he was certain that league leaders Manchester United were under pressure on the prospect of facing the Blues on Sunday. Chelsea have once again emerged as title contenders after a mid-season slump and will travel to
Old Trafford over the weekend to take on Manchester United.
In a period of about two months, Chelsea have closed the enormous 15 point gap between Manchester United to just three points. The Blues are currently at second place, just three points behind the Red Devils and stand a chance to go top of the table with
a win. While they will be level on points (73), the Blues will be ahead on goal difference.
Both sides had tough fixtures last weekend, Chelsea were hosting Tottenham Hotspur in a London derby on Saturday while Manchester United traveled to the Emirates Stadium to take on third place http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 the next day. The Blues emerged victorious in a highly
controversial match to put more pressure on United, who ended up losing 1-0 to the Gunners.
The Frenchman believed it was the Blues' improving form and late title challenge that had caused Manchester United to slip up against Arsenal. In addition to that, Manchester United are still in contention for the UEFA Champions League whereas the Blues
are focused entirely on retaining the Premier League crown.
Malouda said while speaking to reporters, “We were third and wanted to be ahead of Arsenal by winning all of our remaining games. All we could do was win all our matches and hope United dropped points to let us back in the title race. That is what's happened
and now it is down to details in the big games.”
The French winger urged his side to give it their best in the upcoming fixtures. He continued, “In these games, there is a lot of pressure but it is in the big games that you see our players' character. We enjoy these games. We have to make sure we play
at our best level. It's the best I've done in one season in the league, although I've scored more in all competitions.”
After facing Manchester United this weekend, the Blues will host a tough Newcastle United side at Stamford Bridge before traveling to Goodison Park to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043. Manchester United have relatively easier fixtures after the clash against Chelsea, they
play Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 away and Blackpool at home.
