Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 is confident, like Roberto Di Matteo, that his side have a decent chance to win the UEFA Champions League.
The Blues midfielder believes after defeating a side like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 Chelsea have the confidence to go into the final against Bayern Munich and secure the European trophy. He admitted this could go on to be Chelsea’s best season ever, despite the difficulties
they had faced earlier on.
Under the young Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas Chelsea had a decent start to the season. Unfortunately for the Blues they suffered a mid-season slump, which caused them to drop out of the top four in the English Premier League and get knocked out of
the Carling Cup.
However, after Villas-Boas was sacked following a string of poor results, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo was appointed caretaker manager. Since then, Chelsea have been on the way up, going on to win the FA Cup and making it to the UEFA Champions League final.
Lampard said in an interview:
“From the spirit we showed in Barcelona, we can do anything, and it's about making sure we can do it on the day.
We've had a tough season. I've had tough moments. But we're sitting here on the verge of maybe the greatest season ever.”
Following John Terry’s suspension during the clash against Barcelona, Lampard will be leading the Blues against Bayern Munich in the final. Along with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 will be sitting out the UEFA Champions
League final.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain revealed that while he was extremely disappointed, he would be present to support his team. He was certain that even without the suspended players, the Blues had enough quality to ensure they emerged victorious against the Bundesliga
giants at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League and win the coveted European trophy.
Terry said:
“For myself and the guys who are going to be suspended, obviously we're bitterly disappointed. But we'll be there to support the players as we always are. We've got a fantastic group of players.
Big nights need big players and we've certainly got loads of them.”
