Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 would do better with the club in the upcoming season.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 set to leave for the African Cup of Nations, Torres will be one of the few strikers Chelsea will be depending on. To give him a taste of things to come, manager Andre Villas-Boas played Torres for the full 90 minutes against Wolverhampton
Wanderers in the English Premier League.
The start against Wolves came after more than five matches on the bench and the Spaniard seemed to make the most of the opportunity. Even though he failed to find the back of the net against the Wolves, he created many chances for the London side and tried
to set up various goals.
His start against Wolverhampton Wanderers not only proved that Chelsea were willing to give him another chance, it rubbished rumours that the Blues were looking to sell him in the January transfer window. It seems the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international will remain at Stamford
Bridge for the upcoming seasons.
Lampard, who also played an important role against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 by scoring the match winning goal, was full of praise for the misfiring striker. According to him, Torres had done incredibly well in the fixture considering the fact he had not been playing much.
Lampard said while speaking to reporters:
“Fernando played well. He looked very sharp. It's not been easy for him. He hasn't been playing that much.
It's not easy for him and you need that edge. But when you're not playing it's difficult.
But he showed a lot of glimpses of what he's all about. Sometimes strikers don't score but you can see that sharpness in them and you're waiting for the goal to come.”
As for his future, Lampard was certain he would remain with Chelsea. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 midfielder rubbished rumours of an exit in the January transfer window, claiming he would remain with Chelsea until the end of his career, whenever that would be.
He continued:
“I'm very committed. I'll always stay completely behind the cause of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 because that's me now. Chelsea's my club.”
