Chelsea’s Frank Lampard wants to continue playing on like Ryan Giggs
Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international currently has two years remaining on his existing contract with the Blues and insisted he was fit enough
to play regularly with the London side.
With the emergence of 18-year-old midfielder Josh McEachran over the past season, there were questions as to when Lampard would retire. However, the Blues midfielder seems to have no intention of retiring anytime soon.
He more than welcomed the competition the likes of McEachran present and said he was willing to work for his place under the new Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas. With ten seasons playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 under his belt, Lampard is hoping to continue on for
the Blues in the future.
Lampard said he did not believe age had much to do with anything if a player maintained his fitness. The Englishman revealed that some players had their best time while in their 30’s, the best example of which was Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.
At 37-years-old, Giggs is still one of United’s best players and has played a major role in their success over the years. Last season he went on to make a total of 38 appearances in all competitions and even managed to score 4 goals.
Lampard admitted he looked up to the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international and wished to be like him when he reached his late thirties. Despite being 37, Giggs has not shown any signs of slowing down and having brushed aside talks of retirement, will continue on with
the Red Devils next season.
Lampard said while speaking to reporters:
“I think the age thing has changed.
People are pretty quick to write you off once you get into your 30s but they have proved to be a lot of players' best years.

Lampard was certain if he looked after his health and fitness, he would be able to play well into his 30’s. The Chelsea midfielder revealed he was looking forward to a long playing career and would continue on with the Blues if he was given the chance.
He continued:
“If you look after yourself, keep motivated, which is very important, know your body, do the right things, and manage yourself well, then you can certainly have your best years in your 30s.”
While he admitted he enjoyed top level football, Lampard revealed he would not mind playing at “Sunday League” level if it came down to it. His desire to play football exceeded everything else and he was willing to do anything to continue on playing.
Lampard said:
“There's a lovely mix at this level. I love playing; I love the sport and the basics of going out to play football.”
