Chelsea’s Petr Cech claims Manchester United were lucky to win 2008 Champions League
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech claims that Manchester United did not actually defeat his side in the 2008 Champions League final.
Cech believes that the only reason the Red Devils won that match was that they were luckier in the penalty shoot-out.
The Blues are still waiting to get their hands on the coveted Champions League trophy thanks to that defeat at the hands of United in Moscow. Chelsea came so close to winning the title back in 2008, but lost out on penalties after an unfortunate slip from

However, Chelsea keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 maintains that his side was not beaten on the night. He claims that the match could have gone either way, but luck was on United’s side.
The Blues will have a shot at revenge when they face United in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday, 6 April, 2011. The Red Devils will travel to Stamford Bridge for the first leg of the tie, and Cech is confident that United will not

Cech said, “They didn't really win that game (the 2008 Champions League final), they just had more luck in the shoot-out. It's in the past. We are looking to the future and we hope this time it will be us who go through. We go into the game with confidence
because our record against Manchester United in recent years is very good, especially at home.”
He added, “If we get a good result we'll be in a good position going to Old Trafford (in the second leg of the tie).”
The Champions League title is now the only piece of silverware Chelsea are competing for, having recently seen their Premier League hopes extinguished with a 1-1 draw against Stoke. It has allowed Manchester United to open up a huge gap at the summit of
the Premier League standings, and the Red Devils are now favourites to go on and win the title.
