http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 goalkeeper, Petr Cech, has revealed that his side is mighty disappointed on being knocked out of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League against Manchester United. He insisted that the Blues had played really well in the competition and were
aiming to win it.
Chelsea were defeated by Manchester United 3-1 on aggregate and lost both their fixtures, at Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford. Manager Carlo Ancelotti is being widely criticized for his tactics and team selection against the Red Devils and could face the
axe at the end of the season.
Cech added that all the players were devastated at the end of the match on Tuesday night and revealed that the team played brilliantly throughout the competition, except for the quarter-finals. He described it as a hard night for the club and the fans but
claimed moving on is the best option.
“It was silent in the dressing room. There were no words to describe the sense of deception, the disappointment. There is no point. It was a hard night. The season for us in the Champions League is over, which is a pity because it is only the quarter finals
and we were aiming higher,” the goalkeeper was quoted as saying.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 International insisted that the club’s focus will be on a second place finish in the Premier League. He also admitted that not winning a trophy is a disappointing finish for a club of Chelsea’s calibre. The shot-stopper claimed that there
were high hopes from the team after last year’s domestic double. The Londoners could not capitalize on a great start to proceedings this season and are now placed third in the table behind Manchester United and Arsenal.
“It is always disappointing if you are part of a big club and you don't win a trophy. After winning the double last season everyone thought we were going to defend the titles. We had a good start to the season and then things became difficult. But we were
doing well in the Champions League until the two games against United,” Petr Cech concluded.
Chelsea are third on the Premier League table with 58 points with 17 wins and seven losses from 31 games.
