Chelsea’s desire to win the league greater than the Arsenal or Manchester united

Champagne is on the ice for Chelsea only to be corked a week later at Stamford Bridge with a formality win against the Latic. The game should be no more than a formality after the London blues emphatically brushed aside a woeful Liverpool with a strong performance that’s sees them within touching distance of their third English Premier League title and their first under their new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

It was moronic of united fans to expect a favor of gigantic proportions by expecting Liverpool to take off any points from Chelsea and hand their bitterest rivals their 19th title, it was just never going to happen.  Chelsea’s desire to win the league has been much much greater than the likes of their title rivals be it Arsenal or Manchester united. They showed determination, motivation, will and guts through out the season to emerge victorious and this will and determination was there to see for all yesterday at Anfield.

Six wins out of six against their rival top 4 teams, just one goal conceded and 12 scored is a vehement testament to their title credentials if there ever was one needed.  Manchester United required Liverpool to do them a favour, but did Chelsea needed one from them h**l No!

They were too strong fro their Merseyside rivals Listless, lethargic, shapeless and even lacked desire, the fact that Javier Mascherano was playing at Rightback for them is more than a sign of things that are horribly wrong at Liverpool.

Liverpool did start the match at high tempo and even came closer to taking the lead when Alberto Aquilani’s long range effort just brushed the upright of Petr Chech’s goal only 9 minutes into the game but that was their only worthwhile effort of the game.

It didn’t even require Chelsea to be at full throttle to take the lead, captain Steven Gerrard gifted them the goal when his awry backpass was intercepted by Didier Drogba , who turned around Pepe Reina with remarkable ease to tap into a gaping goal.

Chelsea should have been 4 up before half time as they took full advantage of their feeble right side defence. First it was Lampard who shot wide after being put in space for a shot by Solomon Kalou, the It took a last ditch clearance by Krygiakos to deny Anelka another goal and Lucas was luck not to have given a penalty when he tripped Solomon Kalou in the box.

But all of it was only delaying the inevitable and 9 minutes after the restart Chelsea got their second goal.

Mascherano played the Frenchman Anelka onside from his compatriot Malouda’s cross who squared the ball to Lampard who showed far more determination and will than Yossi Benayoun  to steer the ball past a hapless Reina for his 25th goal of the season.

There was never any danger that Liverpool will throw away the match just to prevent Manchester United from winning the title but by the same token, there was never any danger that the blues would need them to.
