Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Petr Cech, bemoans Blues’ title surrendering to Manchester United
Chelsea’s shot-stopper, Petr Cech, believes that the Blues are still suffering from a hangover of losing the Barclays Premier League title to Manchester United this season. Chelsea had a fantastic start to the season and was favourites to retain the League
title. However, the Blues’ poor mid-season form put the Premier League title out of their reach and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 feels that his teammates have yet to recover from the disappointment of losing the title.
Cech told his personal website, “It seemed to me that in each of us there was still disappointment from not winning the title, as on Saturday Manchester United captured it”.
Moreover, Petr Cech also expressed his discontentment over Chelsea drawing against Newcastle United in the last game of this season at Stamford Bridge. Carlo Ancelotti made six changes to the squad and the transition paid off when Ivanovic scored in the
second minute.
However, an injury time goal from Newcastle United’s Taylor denied Chelsea three points and a win in the last home game.
Petr Cech said, “We wanted badly to win the last match of the season at Stamford Bridge and conceding in the last minute is not the best way to reward our fans, who have supported us all year”.
However, the draw against Newcastle United proved enough for Chelsea to secure the second spot in the Barclays Premier League standings after third placed Arsenal lost to Aston Villa later that day.
Moreover, Josh McEachran was given his first Premier League start by Carlo Ancelotti and Petr Cech was very impressed by the performance put by the teenager.
Petr Cech hailed Josh McEachran contribution, saying, “He started the game and did really well. Josh only recently turned 18 but if he follows the path he has been on, he is surely destined to become a big player at Chelsea. He is enormously talented, so
it is up to him”.
Moreover, it is also the first season Chelsea has not won any silverware since Roman Abramovich took over the club.
Chelsea will play their last game of this season away against Everton at Goodison Park.
