Carlo Ancelotti is on thin ice because of his failure to produce results for defending champions Chelsea in the 2010-11 Barclays Premier League. The Blues visited Molineux Stadium to play against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a team
in the bottom three of the league. Ancelotti needed to win the match especially when they lost their Champions League spot to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, it did not turn out to be a visit that Ancelotti would like to remember as the Blues
lost by 1-0, through an own goal scored by Jose Bosingwa.
Ever since Roman Abramovich took charge, this is the worst form shown by the Blues. In their last 11 matches, Chelsea has won only two games. Also, they have gathered only 10 points in their last 11 games and have dropped to the
fifth position on the League table. Their title hopes have sunk as well because they are nine points behind the leaders, Manchester United, who have one extra match.
Ancelotti played his strongest men against the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paulo-Ferreira-c29445 was left out and replaced by Jose Bosingwa as the
right back, to give some options on the flanks of the team. Up front, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Doyle-c20719 returned from an injury while Steven Fletcher was also included in the
starting line-up.
The goal came in the opening five minutes from a corner. Stephen Hunt delivered the ball in the box which was played by Ronald Zubar at the near post. The resulting low ball deflected from Jose Bosingwa and went into the goal with

Didier Drogba hit the outside of the post, while Kalou failed to hit the target from an open chance. Chelsea had 68% possession in the game but they were unable to create spaces. There were plenty of wild shots from the Blues as
they hit the target on only 3 occasions. It was a clear sign of desperation as no one stepped up to take the responsibility for the team.
With this defeat against a weaker side, the Wolves really showed the weak points of Chelsea’s squad. At this moment, there is a fear of losing the Champions League spot, which is considered very vital for the fans and Roman Abramovich
as well. The defence is failing to stop the goals while the attack is failing to produce some. Drogba, who is the main Chelsea scorer for the past few seasons, is not having luck on his side. Also, the support from the other players is also diminishing. Right
now, Chelsea is at a brink of a crisis and Ancelotti might have to take some drastic actions in order to save the team from falling apart.
If we take a close look at Chelsea’s squad, we would see hints of Jose Mourinho. This team has been working their way to the top for quite some time now, and Mourinho has always taken most of the credit for it. However, the demise
is very near as Chelsea is close to losing their prestigious Champions League position and it might get even worse. The problem lies not with the players, who are still some of the best in the world. The real responsibility lies with the new manager, who has
chosen to make do with Mourinho’s team rather than building around his own principles.
In the end, Ancelotti will have to take the responsibility for everything that has gone wrong with the Blues. His days at Stamford Bridge are numbered and we might see a new man in charge in the next couple of weeks.
