Cheltenham; A happy hunting ground for Midnight Chase
Midnight Chase has always enjoyed running at Cheltenham and will look to continue doing a great job at the venue before retiring from the sport.
Although, his overall performances have been impressive, yet he has mostly been able to produce his best runs at this ground. He has developed some sort of liking for this racecourse and his rivals have always found him competitive here.
The 10-year-old gelding has appeared in a total of 26 races, winning 12 of them whereas finished as a runner up a couple of times. In addition to that, he has secured the third spot on five occasions, which shows that he is quite capable of giving a tough
time to his rivals with consistency.
Out of his total number of outings, he has appeared at Cheltenham on nine times. There have been just a couple of occasions, when he failed to make it to the top three on this ground, which shows how much he likes it.
After making his debut in the sport in 2007, the Neil Mulholland’s trainee took almost a couple of years before first appearing on his favourite ground. He was not given a very good starting price back then and was expected to struggle against some quality
runners.
However, he took everyone by surprise and gave a tough time to the race favourite stallion. Although, he failed to succeed back then, he finished as a runner up, which was quite pleasing for his team.
Lady Clarke’s owned runner reappeared on this track in 2010, but this time he was awarded better odds for a victory. He failed to take the top spot though and had to settle for third place in the end.
Despite that, he did not give up hope and came back at Cheltenham in the same year with better confidence. This time he was successful and won four back-to-back events on this field.
This was quite a remarkable feat for him and he started the next year with an outing at the same venue. However, he failed to meet the expectations of his team during that event, as he dropped out of the top three.
Midnight Legend’s son did not give up hope though and won another race on his lucky ground. He has always been the one to watch out for at Cheltenham and the local spectators will definitely want to see him racing here in the future events.
