at cheltman race course in the past few weeks there have been 3 horse deaths on the old course of the track and the worse thing is they all died on the same fence they have suspended on the course but should they lower the fences or completley ban racing on that side of the course.

RIP GRANIT JACK broke his neck and died at the second last fence

RIP WILLYANWOODY broke his back at the second to last fence a promising young novice

RIP MACS JOY broke his leg and was destroyed only an 8 year old my all time favorite horse best race was when he beat hardy eustace in 2005

RIP DETRIOT CITY fell has a heart attack and died at ascot my beatuifull grey rest in peace all those throughbred athlets

so far 181 horse deaths in 282 days i support racing but with all these deaths i think they should only limit the number of races each horse runs and to lower the fence heights there is so many horses being destroyed because of us

  1. No they should not shorten the course it is just the one fence that needs to be looked at it is fine the first time round but when the horses pick up speed for the finish it sometimes catches them out because it is lower on the landing side. Cheltenham is the best jumps course in the country.

  2. In a short answer no.

Firstly I have to say that fatalities will always happen where animals are involved, be it through racing or just running around in the field.  As my boss always says "where you have livestock, you will have dead-stock"

Cheltenham have already made adjustments to that fence in the past and to modify it again would be pandering to the health and safety brigade.

In sincerely doubt your figure of 181 deaths in 282 days, where on earth did you get that from?!  I think you need to check your facts first.
