C3H8+5O2--->3CO2+4H2O

1. If 6.75 moles of O2 and 3.25 moles C3H8 were combined. how many grams of H2O will be produced? Which is the limiting reagent?

2. If 100 grams each of O2 and C3H8 were combined . how many moles CO2 will be produced? Which is the excess reagent? How much excess reagent will be left unreacted?

tnx ^^!!

    C3H8  +  5O2  --->3 CO2 + 4 H2O

    1 mol & 5 mol --> 3 moles & 4 moles

    44.1g  & 160g --> 132.0g & 72.04 g

    1. If 6.75 moles of O2 and 3.25 moles C3H8 were combined.  Which is the limiting reagent?

    notice that the equation says you need 5 times as many moles of O2 as yoiu hve propane, since that was not added,

    Your answer is: O2 is the limiting reagent

    -----------------------------

    1. If 6.75 moles of O2 and 3.25 moles C3H8 were combined. how many grams of H2O will be produced?

    6.75 moles O2 @ 72.04 g H2O / 5 moles O2 = 97.254 g H20

    your answer is: 97.3 grams of water

    =========================

    2. If 100 grams each of O2 and C3H8 were combined . Which is the excess reagent?

    notice that it needs roughly 4 times as many grams of oxygen as it has  grams of propane. again they skimped  on the oxygen, & O2 is the limiting reagent

    Your answer is : propane is the excess reagent

    -----------------------------------

    2. If 100 grams each of O2 and C3H8 were combined . how many moles CO2 will be produced?

    100 g O2 @ 3 moles CO2 / 160 grams O2 = 1.875 moles of CO2

    Your answer is: 1.88 grams of CO2

    --------------------------------------...

    2. If 100 grams each of O2 and C3H8 were combined . How much excess reagent will be left unreacted?

    first , how much propane reacts

    100g O2 @ 44.1 grams propane / 160 grams O2 = 27.56 grams of propane react

    100 grams propane - 27.56 g reacted = 72.4375 grams left over

    Your answer is: 74.6 grams of propane are left unreacted
