what kind of jobs can chemical engineers do? and are they well-paid?

There are lots of jobs for chemical engineers. Yes they are well paying. Usually they work in process development. Like finding new materials and improving chemical processes by adding/changing chemicals, changing variables (temperature, concentrations,....) and also developing new processes.
