Chemical Engineering?

Question

Basically wondering if any chemical engineers out there could give me advice and info on the role of chemical engineers in today's society, as I am very interested and thinking of studying this at university.

I have my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. It is basically process design. The major employers are the petroleum industry, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial chemical manufacturers. The pay is good but you may not necessarily agree with the ecological or ethical philosophy of your employer.
