i have thick curly/wavy hair that is hard to straighten, and when i can get it kinda straight i will only last about an hour.

i wanted to get my hair chemically straightened but my hair dresser said it doesn't work on curly hair, and that i would have to keep straightening it

so is my hair dresser right or does chemically straightening work?

  1. Your hairdresser is right! I got it done (only once, that was enough for me!). It wasn't really straight, but it wasn't curly anymore either. So then I HAD to straighten it every day. It wasn't any easier than usual to straighten and my hair was FRIED! I had to get malibu treatments every other week until it grew out or my hair was absolutely straw like. Don't do it! Just get a good flat iron!

  2. my hair was very curly, like sharkia curls,

but the curls went very definited, some of them were more wavy then the others, some were really curly. some really super fizzy, and some wern't really curls.

so i got the japanese straight perm done(for only 70$)!

and i have to get it every 3 months, the roots.

it worked really well for me! and wasnt damaged at all! It made my hair really smooth and soft~! :D

  3. if ur going to chemically stirghten it do the japensese hair strighting it will work for u TRUST ME  it worked for me and my hair was really really curly and wild it looked like i had an afro if i didnt tie it back

  4. it does wor\k i did my hair chemically straightened go ask someone else that does for like 150 dollars or more cuz then u no its good i did it and i luv it alot i actually where it down instea of in a pony tail

  5. i wouldn't get your hair chemically straightened. it is really bad for your hair. But if you really really want to, then go for it. It will work as long as you go some place reliable. good luck!

  6. it should work. i mean why would they have it only for people with already straight hair.

  7. Depends on what type of straightener you use . If your hair dresser uses a relaxer and not a perm then it will straighten the hair . Some people try to use a perm solution on naturally curly hair and it will only take out a perm . Usually when you use a relaxer your hair tends to be kind of dry so be prepared to buy shampoo and conditioner from who ever does this for you . Go to a hair dresser who is experienced and comfortable doing a relaxer , this is a must ! Remember , it is very important to use professional products to care for your hair at home . you will also have to go back to get the new growth relaxed occasionally , kind of like retouching your roots with color . I have been a hair dresser for 25 yrs , good luck to you
