Chemicals in fire belly toad water?

My pet store owner said my fire belly toads have toxin in their body. and stuff After a few days I put them in, This chemical stuff started floating around. I am just wondering if these chemicals on top of the water hurt my toads. Ive been changing the water with bottle water. Please Respond.

  1. Fire-bellied Toads are slightly toxic. They can irritate individuals with very sensitive skin, and they don't taste good to predators, although my cat didn't seem to mind... but that's another story.

    Anyway, what you see floating around in the water is probably waste, debris, dust, etc.

    I keep mine in a 20-gallon long well planted aquarium with about 1/4 sectioned off for water, and I have never seen anything in the water except for the occasional leaf or bit of moss that hitches a ride on the toads wet skin.

    If it's really bad, you might look into getting a filter. Otherwise, just keep up with your water changes, using either de-chlorinated tap water or bottled water, and you should be fine.
