Question:

Chemicals in swimming pools?

Yesterday I went to my friends apartment block for a swim. I didnt completely go in the pool, I just sat with my legs dangling in the water. One of the neighbours then came and told me that the pool was out of use for the day as some cleaning agents had been put in that day. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and am now worried that it could have been dangerous. I am probably over reacting as usual but can anyone put my mind at rest please?

  1. Nah, you don't really absorb chemicals through your skin.  A hosing, shower or bath would remove any residual.

  2. don't worry about it as the chemical in the pool is chlorine which kills fungi and bacteria in the water, anyway it will clear up in time usually they put the chemical early in the morning around 4 to 5 am before the sun rise and by 9 am the chemical has already cleared.
