Chemistry: How can I find the charge of group 4, group 5, and group 6 elements?

I know that group one elements are (+1), group 2 (+2), and group 3 (+3), i guess... But I don't know how to find the charge of group 4,group 5, and group 6. I also know that group 7 is (-2), and group 8 have no charge.

    Under the tittle Periodic Table - Model Science Software, you can find the correct oxidation numbers for all the elements.

    I don't understand your group nomenclature. In Europe we use groups 1A to 7A, three groups 8 (MIDDLE), 1B to 7B and 0. Other use groups 1 to 18.

    In any case groups 7A(7) nor 7B(17) haven't got charge (-2). Your question is wrong. Best take a look at that page in the Internet and by clicking on the element you could find the results as "OXIDATION STATES" and "VALENCE ELECTRONS"


  2. Group 7 is not (-2). Group 7 is (-1)

    Anything before group four will try to lose as much electrons as it can to get to zero in a sense. For instance group 1 will try to lose 1 electron because it's easier, group two will lose 2 electrons and so fourth. Group can can either lose 4 electrons(4+) or gain 4 electrons (4-), group 5 will gain 3 electrons(3-), group 6 will gain 2 electrons(2-) and group seven will gain 1 electron(-1).

  3. Generally group 4 shares, but it can be+4 or -4

    group 5 is generally -3(Nitrogen can be -3 or +5)(P varies)

    group 6 is generally -2.  (Oxygen is always -2)(Sulfur is often -2)
