Ok I took the Chem Regents today and I have done very well on past chem regents but todays test just seemed so hard compared to past ones.

But what I want to know is, do you go to summer school for failing a Regents or do you just take it again in August 2008, or both, or does it depend on the school?

  1. yea i got somewhere between 64-68 out of 85. depends on if i get credit for the answers on the intermolecular forces/polarity questions cuz i can't remember how i worded my answer.

  2. you can just take the exam. You must let the school know of your intent.

  3. it depends on the school because for me, if i fail the regents i would have to go to summer school. and by the way part C of this regents was CRAZY HARD

  4. last year and all the other years was really easy compared to 2008 in my opinion. i always score a average of 95 on my class test and regents.

  5. Hey, question:

If you pass the regents but aren't happy with the grade, can you still take it again in August? Or is that option only for people who failed? And obviously, they take the higher of the two grades... right?

  6. i also thought the test was difficult at first, especially the part 2's, but i found out from my teacher that i got a 100. It may have just been the heat of the moment which made the test seem so hard out of proportion. I doubt you will fail. Its hard to do that. As long as you've passed your class, you shouldn't have to worry about summer school. Dont panick, i doesnt help anything.

  7. if you failed it you can take it again in august

but it depends on the school cause i know in my school if you passed the class but failed the regents you dont have to take it again unless you want the regents diploma

and if you have enough regents in that subject you dont have to take it again either

  8. When do you find out if you fail on your report card or do they call or mail?

  9. I took it today too! it was really hard for me, and i always get like 93+ on all the other regents i practiced with.

my average for chem is like a 98 all year round.

in my school if you get below a 5o you have to go to summerschool no matter what. but if you get below a 65 and still pass for a year you only have to take the test in august.

which happens to always be on my birthday :P

eww, i hope i didn't fail that would suck.

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

  10. i actually thought it was decent. our teacher over prepared us for our test and did more than is ever on a regents. im just afraid that because i wasn't stuck a lot i feel like i may have made up my own ways and thoguht they were right ha. ha.  most of the formulas were the ones right on the reference tables and not all of them wanted them solved they just wanted the set up with the numbers plugged in. i just hope i passed it.  good luck to everyone else too :)

  11. im wonderin the same thing lol cause i took a math regents today..i think i did ok but i kinda worried

I think its just a week in august u have to go in for

  12. u just have to retake it again in august if you failed the test but passed the class.

yea the teachers this year said that this year's regents was the hardest one.

i was SO confused and i was panicking A LOT.

i'm an A student, and everyone said the exam was hard too.

it was too much moles c**p and formulas, and all the practice regents were 10 times easier than this.

  13. I agree it was so hard, oh my god.

especially compared to all the practice regents I took!

  14. im wondering why you post on canada meanwhile your from NY. anyway yes if you fail you have to come back in august and keep taking it till you dont fail, but dude honestly todays test was soo ridiculously easy....... it was soo much easier than past regents

  15. Grade yourself and find out:

Go to www.jmap.org and look on top-right side of the page. You should be able to find the Question booklet / Answer Key / Conversion chart there.

If you pass, Congrats! If you fail, summer school would depend on your school. I go to Bronx Science. Here Regents is only 10% of the final grade. My average in the class is well over 95 so moi is no mucho worried!

By the way, tell me how you did on it after you select my answer as the best answer ;-))). I graded myself a few minutes ago. I didn't do as well as I thought I did. I got a 95 on it (82/85). Shucks!!!!

  16. If you passed the class all year round you dont have to go to summer school but take the regents in August. If you flunked the class you have to go to summer school

  17. I think that if state realizes the number of people that are failing, they may have the power to adjust the conversion charts.... Maybe.

This is not necessarily a true fact!!!! just a guess.

If you fail, you take it again in August, just talk to your guidance counselor. You don't generally go to summer school unless you fail the actual course. Of course that is also at your parent's discretion as well.

  18. I think you usually only go to summer school if you fail the course.

They would reconsider if you did nicely on the regents.

  19. my raw score is a 69.. whichj means my actual score wwill be a 79 after the curve. i had 10 multiple choice wrong and 6 short answer points added up wrong. so 85- 16 is 69. lol i expected to do better. but its over so theres nothing i can do about it. hey i passed..

  20. i took it last year and got a 97 and i didnt study at all.

  21. just have to take it again in august
