Chemistry - energy release?!!!!

can anyone explain why high energy release per unit mass is an important consideration in selecting fuel for vehicles involved in transport, particulary aerial transport?

is it somehting to do with they cant stop for more fuel very often....

i actuallyy dont have a clue aye

  1. if a fuel has a higher energy content for the mass or volume, it is simply more efficient to use as they have to carry less of the fuel.

    For an aircraft, carrying less fuel would mean a lighter plane so less fuel is used in the first place. Having to carry less fuel also means the aircraft is safer as there is less stress on the body.

    For cars, it means you can go further with one tank and this means less stops for fuel as you guessed :P and maybe even cheaper traveling as a result?
